Introduction

Picture
Ilse (pronounced Ilsa or Elsa, you choose), is a Family Nurse Practitioner who joins the Bridgestone Wellness Track team as a contractor for Aiken Regional Medical Center.  Nurse practitioners work independently in conjunction with a supervising physician.  She will be working with Dr. Adam Bruckner as her collaborating physician.

She recently retired from the Army as an Army Nurse.  She originally enlisted from Phoenix, Arizona to earn money for college and travel; then stayed for 30 more years, traveling, going to college, and serving military members, retirees, and their families.

Ilse earned a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing  at Austin Peay State University, Clarksville, TN.  She then accepted a direct commission as an Army Nurse Corps Officer and worked as an ICU nurse for five years.  She attended graduate school at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, MD, earning a Masters of Science in Nursing.

Ilse is certified in Family Medicine by the American Nurse's Credentialing Center (ANCC), and a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

Ilse's travels provide a broad variety of clinical experience to Bridgestone after caring for patients aged 2 weeks to 90 years old.  Clinical experience depended on the population and mission of the assigned location, and changed with the demographic of the clinics (remote location vs. high deploying; young families vs. retirees).  This experience included women's health, pediatrics, internal medicine, and sports injuries.  She also had the opportunity to manage several clinics.

Over 30 years she has been stationed in Germany (Karlsruhe, Wurzburg, and Grafenwoehr); Fort Huachuca, AZ; Seoul, Korea; the Pentagon; Fort Campbell, KY; Fort Belvoir, VA; Walter Reed Army Medical Center, DC; Schofield Barracks, HI; Fort Irwin, CA, and Fort Jackson, SC.   She has personal humanitarian and military deployment experience in Haiti, El Salvador, and Rustamiyah, Iraq.

Ilse's hobbies include very serious gardening *issues,* photography, and traveling.  She also fancies herself  a scrapbooker and sailor.  She is married to David (in picture above left) who hails all the way from Aiken, SC.

Ilse adopted a feral cat from the famed 'Le Mew' hunting clan of Honolulu while stationed in HI.  Ori is an excellent hunter.  Her particular specialties include moles and anoles, the colorful lizards here in SC, a  habit which Ilse discourages.  A well traveled Army cat, Ori has moved from Hawaii to Arizona, Germany, California, and finally South Carolina.  Pictured:  Ori in her gardens.

Ilse is very excited to be joining Bridgestone and caring for their team members.  Goals for the clinic include making health care timely, convenient, and patient centered.
