About the clinic
The Wellness Track is Bridgestone, Aiken PSR's urgent care clinic.
The clinic has been open for four years and is tended by a Family Nurse Practitioner with 16 years of clinical experience.
The clinic is designed for acute and urgent concerns, pre-employment physicals, and wellness.  Wellness includes: Blood Pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, weight management and sleep management.
Schedule is templated with 20 acute appointments daily, interspersed with 1 hour pre employment physicals per day.
I've been exposed to covid19, when should i get tested?
If you have been exposed to a team member or non-family member, wait 7 days after the last exposure date.
If you have been exposed to a family member or someone you live with, get tested 7 days after they develop symptoms or they are told they tested positive for COVID.
Rationale: It takes 7 days after exposure for the virus to rise to a detectable level in the respiratory tract. Getting tested sooner raises risk of a false-negative test.
I have symptoms of covid19 when should i get tested?
If you have symptoms consistent with COVID 19, get tested immediately.
Rationale: You are shedding the virus 2 days before symptoms begin, so the level is usually high enough to be detected when you have symptoms.
Where can I get tested for COVID19?
- Call your regular family medicine clinic to see if they offer testing.

- Augusta University (AU) Health Hotline: (706) 721-1852
They will schedule an appointment for you. Results are back in 24-48 hours. They are doing spit-testing.
Use this option if you have been exposed and do not have symptoms.

- MedNow Urgent Care: https://www.mednowurgentcare.net/
Multiple locations – choose one closest to you and verify they have COVID19 testing capability.
Choose this option if you are having symptoms or there is a mixed picture of flu or strep that may need to be treated.

- University Prompt Care – Silver Bluff: (803) 648-0587
More locations at website below. Make sure your location has COVID19 testing.
https://www.universityhealth.org/emergency-urgent-care/prompt-care-occupational-medicine
Choose this option if you are having symptoms or there is a mixed picture of flu or strep that may need to be treated.

- More options for testing by state:
https://www.hhs.gov/coronavirus/community-based-testing-sites/index.html

- General Guidance:  Avoid testing locations that ask you to perform your own test, even supervised. Few people are able to place the q-tip far enough back to ensure a good test specimen. Unless you are actively shedding the virus, you will potentially get a false negative test.
how soon can I return to work?
Self-Isolation Timeline:

10 days:
- If you are exposed to COVID by a stranger/coworker, no symptoms, negative COVID test.
Due to high rate of false negatives, and potential to shed the virus without symptoms you will need to quarantine for 10 days.

- Positive for COVID with symptoms
You may return IF you have met the isolation time period, have not had a fever in 24 hours (without using fever reducers, i.e., Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen, etc.) and do not have persistent symptoms such as an uncontrolled cough.
If you have persistent symptoms, please follow up with your healthcare provider for further treatment and adjust the return to work time-frame.

Rationale: You are considered no longer contagious after 10 days.

14 days:
- If you are exposed to someone you live with who has COVID (regardless of whether they have symptoms).

Rationale: We’re not sure when exactly you were exposed.  14 days allows for 7 for the virus to rise to a detectable level, and an additional 7 days to develop symptoms.

- Positive for COVID without symptoms – quarantine for 14 days.
Rationale: The incubation period for COVID19 is 2-14 days. You can feel fine, then develop symptoms on the 14th day. You are considered to be contagious and potentially shedding the virus during this time.
Do I need a negative test result before i can return to work?
No. You do need a negative test to return to work.
Rationale: It takes some people days to weeks for their body to completely get rid of the viral fragments. So COVID19 may be detected 2 months after you have been infected.
Viral shedding stops after 10 days. So after 10 days, you are NOT considered to be contagious even if your test is positive.
I was told I needed a return to work slip, where do i get that?
You will need a return to work slip prepared by a medical professional to validate your absence due to COVID19. Your family physician and most urgent care clinics can provide you with this.
However, if you were tested by a clinic without an associated clinic visit, you will need to contact the Bridgestone Urgent Care Clinic for a telephonic return to work interview.
This interview is conducted over the phone. You do NOT need to drive to the Bridgestone campus. Please do not come to the clinic without calling first. This is a virtual visit with NO charge.

The Nurse Practitioner will ask you the following questions:
  • Date of exposure
  • If you had symptoms
  • Date you developed symptoms
  • Date you were tested
  • Result of test
  • Last day worked (first counted absent day)
  • Your general condition and if you need anything.

A return to work slip will be generated for you to pick up when you return for your next scheduled shift.
If you need the slip before you return to avoid interruptions in pay, the clinic can email you a copy to forward to MyHR.

what guidelines are being used to determine when i can return to work?
Guidelines for DHEC (SC Department of Health) are developed from the CDC (Center for Disease Control) guidelines. Due to newness of this virus, guidelines are subject to change. The goal of isolation is to ensure Bridgestone PSR/ORR continue to have limited chances for exposure.

I have symptoms like Covid19, and i'm sure it's just allergies or something,  what do i do?
It depends. Many symptoms of COVID are the same as allergies, asthma, minor colds, strep throat, and influenza.
If you have these symptoms, you will be asked to leave the plant or not come in to work in order to be evaluated by a medical professional to determine if you should be tested for COVID19, and to treat or manage what is causing your symptoms.
